Yes I am bored.. I am alone..What do I do... The result is gonna be this blog..
The only topic in front of me is Christmas.. The nostalgia associated with Christmas -- I have no words to describe it.. My posts might sound cliched.. Another one after Onam.. But these are times when I really miss being in Tripunithura - The Royal Town - my home..
Christmas is always associated with the 10-day vacations, the exams and mostly Thiruvathira.. Many a time this auspicious festival of Malayalis falls during the Christmas and it translates to the 3 (recently 5) day long festival in MY Temple -- Kannakulangara Shiva Kshetram..
My early memories of Thiruvathira are when I studied in 2nd std or so.. Well I still remember being pround of staying awake till 12 cleaning the temple premises and then getting up the next day at 6. Just six hours of sleep -- That was an achievement then !!!
Later memories are that of Ganamela, the famous Vedikettu - man I just love them.. The Koottavedi in the morning and evening - the feeling of the vibrations entering you . The brilliant display of fire crackers in the night accompanied by the Deeparadhan and the sound of bells in the background.. Its just awesome.. The Ganamela on the previous day which lasts till 2 and going back home to catch half an hours sleep and be back again for Nirmalyam.. The Rudrabhishekam, the Panchamrutham - Nothing in the world can replace those moments .
The Shiveli and Melam accompanying it, the Ottanthullal( I see it just this day every year) -- I was known for bunking classes on these days all through my school and college life... I still bunk ,the only difference is it being my work :)
Though this time the festival doesn't fall during Christmas - Come Jan 10th,2009 I will be there - the land which made me what I am - the place which always has something new to offer be it gossips, new friends, relationships - a place whose people still amuse me - the abode of our Kannankulangarappan... This time I have my new camera( Thanks bro !) - I will make sure I capture all those breathtaking moments ...
PS: Unless you were born in Kerala near a temple in a place whose activities revolved around its temple irrespective of caste, creed, race or gender; you are not gonna understand this post in its truest sense..
